I’m a sucker for toys and action figures and I love taking photographs of them. Consider it a way of me getting “into the zone”; when I’m making a photograph of a toy, everything else vanishes in my brain. I loose track of time. You could be standing in my studio doorway and I wouldn’t ever notice you because I’m too busy being involved in making photographs.
I picked up the Spike Spiegel figure last year (pictured left) and recently picked up a Lupin the 3rd figure. Spike is somewhat based off of Lupin, and I always thought it would be great to feature the two of them in some kind of buddy-cop style film.
I spent a little time one day with the two of them. The above fake movie poster came from that day of just mucking and playing and seeing what kind of story I could make up.
Both of these figures are from the S.H.Figuarts line by Ban Dai and Tamashii Nations. I have a few others by the same line (Daft Punk, Freddie Mercury from Queen, Michael Jackson, two Bruce Lee variants and Spider-Man Homecoming), and they are very excellently made and articulated and their faces are very true to the anime/comics.
Around the same time I picked up Spike I also picked up two wall decors that S.H.Figuarts made. These customizable walls can attach to each other so you can make corners or combine them to make one big wall. They are pretty cool.
These figures are awesome.
