SO FAR SO GOOD! Our latest podcast, Episode 79, is up! head on over to the Dave & Sid's Unnamed Podcast page, or if you are on iTunes, search for it there and subscribe!

Reverend Sam Seah
I've known my buddy Dave for a long time. He's become a very close friend, and I love hanging around with him and talking geek-stuff and recording podcasts and everything. His father, who lives in Taiwan, has visited Dave twice in the years that I've known him, and on his second visit last year, Dave hired me to make some portraits of his father.
I was going to write about a fantastic evening and dinner at Dave's and then how his father, Ingram (though he also likes to be called Sam) played some music for us and how we talked for hours about his home and his life working in missionaries in both Taiwan and the US, but instead I just want to focus on the image above, and how much I love the look of intensity on his face while he played for us.
You can see a few more images here, but I wanted to just concentrate on this image. I love it. I feel it's a beautiful portrait, and I'm so glad I finally got to meet the father of a very good friend.
Dave's Bowler Hat
How can you not love this image?
Dave has been looking for a hat for a while now. Partly because he wants to find out what kind of hat will fit his head shape, and partly because he's thinking of joining the Cowboy Action Shooting League, and he's working on creating his persona, "Porkchop Chang".
He's been thinking about bowler hats for a while now - because "Oddjob" from the James Bond film had one, and he got to thinking that maybe it would fit his head shape as well. So when a hat he bought arrived in the mail, I told him to c'mon down to the studio and we'd take some photographs of him wearing it so he could see how it looks on his head.
I did a little post-production on the image to make it feel like it was taken some time ago, back when people wore hats like this out and about.
I think it looks pretty good. I think the brim of the hat could be a little wider and come out over his ears more, but overall I love the look and shape it gives him. Plus, I just love hats, so any chance to photograph a friend in a lid is a-ok with me :)
