Pittsburgh NH

About twice a year we trek up to Pittsburgh New Hampshire and spend Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends at a campsite that my old high-school friends have. We’ve been doing this for almost a decade now and our friends have had the campsite since the mid-1990’s. They are some of my oldest friends and I love them dearly.

Picker Artists Spring Open Studios • Saturday May 4, 2019 • 11-5pm

It's time once again to air the place out and open our doors to visitors! The Picker Artists are having their Spring Open Studios on Saturday, May 4th 2019 from 11-5pm.

Stop by, say hello, and catch up with all of us. It's the perfect chance to meet if we've never met, and ask questions in person if you are thinking about an updated head shot.

New Hampton School Studio Visit

I got a chance to work with some of the fine kids from the New Hampton School out near the seacoast.  This fun group of kids picked Photography as their concentration during their NHS Project week, and they visited a few photography studios and learned different things from different local photographers.  I got this bunch in the middle of the week, I don't think they new what they were getting themselves into.

After they arrived in the morning, I talked a little about me and my background and my path up to this point.  I then set up some lights as if I was shooting a head shot session, and I treated the kids to their own head shots while we talked about manual camera settings and other fundamentals.

After lunch I told the kids that they were their own shooters now, and had the studio.  They had to photograph a fellow student.  They called the shots, and I served as the assistant; moving lights, etc.

As I understand it, they all had a good time.

Totally awesome.  At the end of the week the kids all were part of an art exhibition that showed examples of what they learned during the week.

I'm looking forward to the next time Amy brings a bus full of kids to the studio.  It was great!
