Ballard Museum of Puppetry

Muppet Sid & Sara with a Jim Henson original

See that puppet in the middle?  That's an original Jim Henson puppet.  Excuse me while I pass out a moment.

Ahem.  Okay.  Read on:

Sara and I took a few days to head down to the Ballard Museum of Puppetry so we could see the current puppet exhibitions, including a real Jim Henson created puppet in the 1960's for a Wizard of Id television show that never happened.

In March 1969, Jim Henson shot a short pilot presentation with puppets based on designs from the comic strip The Wizard of Id.

While there, we stumbled across an old abandoned mental institution practically across the street from Ballard.

The following are images taken of the abandoned mental institution located near the Ballard Museum.  Very creepy place, but amazing in that post-apocalyptic kind of way.  I'd very much like to go back there soon with my 4x5 camera and photograph it with that.  The actual location consisted of many buildings in a square - I'd say at least a three to four block radius.  It was really large.  It was very creepy being surrounded by so many over gown abandoned buildings.  It was intense.
