I figured that before 2017 comes to an end, I should show some examples from the work I created for this years Hippo's Best Of 2017.

So much food.
Each year, the Hippo hires me to photograph selected "winners" from their "readers-poll" submissions. I've been doing this for close to a decade now, and it's I've loved being able to travel all over Southern New Hampshire meeting all kinds of people who own these favorited businesses. The last few years the magazine changed directions and it became more of a yearly "travel guide" to Southern NH, which I think is a great idea, and as a result I've been photographing more and more food over the years. I'm not going to complain, as sometimes these generous winners will gift me the subjects that I'm working with (I'm looking at you, Tuckaway Tavern and your excellent Buffalo Mac 'n' Cheese - YUM!).
Product is very easy for me to photograph as I've been photographing my action figures for a long, long time, and food photography falls into this same "miniature" category for me. Plus, I really like trying to challenge myself and get really interesting photographs of otherwise "ordinary" things - food.
I also still get to photograph people when I'm able, and I try to make sure that I get a few volunteers while I'm out and about on these assignments.

One of the other things that I've been loving to do when it comes to the Hippo assignments is seeing how much of them I can photograph with my Fuji X100S camera. I love that camera. It's amazing. It's so small but it's so powerful. As I've gotten to know the camera more and more and get more comfortable and confident using it, I'd say that about 90% of the stuff I do for the Hippo is all with the X100S. It's a little powerhouse of a camera.
